在二十一世纪，哲学是无所不在的「无用之用」；没有人会为了寻找高薪工作而去读哲学，但每个人都不知不觉地受到各种哲学思想的影响。哲学是一门从事偶像敬拜的学问，从来都是福音最强硬的对手——大多数哲学家都试图凭借自主的理性（即脱离神的启示的理性思考）来理解世界，而另一些哲学家则试图把世俗的智慧与神的启示掺杂，神学院里则充斥着伪装成基督教的人本主义哲学。因此，后现代的基督徒尤其应该了解哲学史，并以圣经为准则来评估各种流行的观念，用神的启示来引导人的理性。熟悉各种社会思潮背后的哲学思想及其演变过程，可以让我们知己知彼，对于传福音、护教和心意更新而变化都大有裨益。

　　《西方哲学与神学史 A History of Western Philosophy And Theology》的作者约翰·傅瑞姆（John Frame，1939-）是一位美国改革宗神学家和基督教哲学家，师承范泰尔。他才华洋溢，在认识论、预设护教学、系统神学和伦理学方面都有杰出的工作。在本书中，傅瑞姆带领我们走过哲学史，让我们看清世俗哲学如何在非理性主义和理性主义之间摇摆、纠缠，也展示了合乎圣经的哲学。本课程的中文导读由傅瑞姆的学生林慈信牧师从2024年9月开始讲授，已经录完37小时18分钟，预计2026年底全部完成。英文导读由傅瑞姆讲授，总共31小时56分钟。
